Last week (Monday the 14th) I shot my third and final subject for the Person at Work project. Originally I had photographed a different person to be my third person at work, but I was unhappy with the shoot and was finding it hard to organise a re-shoot so I decided the replace them completely. My third person at work adheres the the same principles that I based my other people at work on, being self-employed and having a job that I find interesting.
So, here she is, Emma Staples, owner of Emma Staples Fitness. She is a fitness instructor who qualified as a group fitness instructor when she was 18. She’s had a range of fitness jobs since, working at many different centres before going part-time self employed about five years ago. She still currently works for a few leisure centres, teaching various fitness classes, but is mainly self-employed running her own classes. Fifteen she decided to branch out from running group fitness classes and became qualified as a personal trainer but only began exercising this (pun intended) four years ago when she began running her own fitness business. Emma is fully qualified to teach a wide range of fitness classes. She teaches, aerobics, powerwave, insanity, kettlebells, zumba, power hoop, kids fitness, abs training, spinning classes, personal training and much more.
Here are a selection of images from my shoot with Emma:
These photographs take place when Emma is teaching her “powerwave in the park” class with a small group of her clients and after the class when she does her own training in the home garden. Emma doesn’t train much during the classes as she is mainly focused on training her clients, so she trains alone at home during the week in order to keep up with her own fitness.
As the project brief states, I will need to narrow my images down to just three and I am hoping that I will get some help in doing this during my next class tutorial.
